I have never wondered why "things have to be so hard or painful or so sad for us." I know why. It's called the Fall.
Also before I forget. What you went through this Christmas with the "Merry Christmas" thing where you lived.... Been there done that for the last three years here in Los Angeles county. Last year being the worse...where I took my stand like you did this year. Lol
Now what's coming next to you I predict....This year I heard was far the worse yet for the ""emergent" church here in S. Calif.
Bottom line with them I heard was this.
Jesus is "a" way. Not the only way. Sure they preach the Bible but they will also say "all" ways lead to God. NOT
Sorry to hear about your health and disk problems. I have 3 disk blown in my neck. Hey if I listed all my medical problems it would be like plugger listing all his sins. There isn't enough band width here for that. ROTFL (just kidding plugger if you're reading this.)
When I first moved to the Los Angeles area I was overwhelmed at all the homeless. It wasn't long before I asked my brother, "Hey what is it. Do these people think I'm a walking bank? I'm sick of getting hit up for money by all of them." He told me it was because I made eye contact with them and to buy a pair of shades and quit making eye contact with them....That ended my getting hit up for money for the most part. I also started praying before I gave any of them money. I also say "God bless you" when I do give them money.
When I lived in Las Vegas years and years ago, it was far the worse place ever for me and the homeless. They would come in by the box car load off the trains from the East Coast and the Mid-West to spend the winter. They would sleep in the library during the day, and drink the drinks people left out side of the casino's at night. Pick up cig. butts light and smoke them and pan handle. The hot summer would come and off they went on the box cars.
My rule of thumb. I'm not saying this is right or even Biblical....but it has worked for me over the years. Never care about a person more than they care about themselves.
I'll get caught up on all the post one of these days that I'm still behind. I thought too on excel I meant jail house Rock with a capital R. :)
