The below is an add to buy tickets to Mars Hill New Years Eve Party. Disclosure. I do have the ability to have one drink and stop. Been quite a while since we been out to dinner but I think that was my last drink I had with my dinner. Ask yourself this. If I had not disclosed to you I am able to have one drink and stop would you not be doing me wrong inviting me to an event where one may not have that type of control or feel the need to drink responsible considering this invitation is from a Christian Church?

I requested and Terry fulfilled the scripture I was looking for right here.

"It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak."

Romans 14:21

With a lot of people if they are allowed to start up at the champagne bar at 11:30 by 12:00 they have had 2 maybe 3.
At least that is how I use to drink. Those are SMALL!
So lets just say they only have one for argument sakes. People with alcohol addiction or a good social drinker on the weekends only need one to get the motor running.
So there you are with your girl toasting with one drink clock strikes 12:00 and hey you got that taste in you. Motor was turned on. So instead of hanging out after the toast you say hey why don't we go to the bar down the street and have another? You have 2 hours of drinking left.

I'm sorry I just don't get it. This is another one of those emergent churches who I guess feel instead of supplying Martinellis Sparkling Cider they need to supply alcohol because they such a COOL church.

Meeting up with Mark Driscoll the founder here is on my to do list for a bit of a reality talk. First I need my anger to get at a decent level before I do. People that haven't lived the party life have no clue giving a tiny smudge of it back to someone in a simple toast what that can do.

#11052 RE: thrifty #11049

Well, I have to tell all you good folks now that thrifty and excel has mentioned a little about this "Emergent Church" topic. I was born and raised a hillbilly out in the sticks of Tenn... And I am now, for the time being, living in the sticks in Pa. and still very much a hillbilly!

Once and awhile when I am looking at Godly stuff I get the google search thing going. And I usually come across something that I know is going to get me a little fired up..but of course I read it anyway..and it leads me to see some of these new church movements..beliefs..what the word really means..how to make the Bible work for you to bring you wealth and riches..How God wants me to live in heaven on earth without any pain or suffering or the top 10 ways to get to heaven!

The thing that gets me is I cant believe all the different words and titles and labels that are used to describe all the different kinds of beliefs and churches and GRRRrrrrrrrr!...One God..One Jesus..One Holy Spirit..The trinity....Right?

Personally, I dont truly think of myself as a Baptist or Church of God or Methodist or anything. I dont really go for the words religion or christian or believer although I use those words just for the label value of describing a certain group of people. We are Gods children and part of the body of Christ...Right?

It seems today that if a small group dont like whats going on in the church, the music or preaching or what Bible is being used...Fine...lets go start our own church and do what feels good to us. Hey...we can interrupt the Bible any way we want and as long as we are happy and it feels good..Then Great!

I cant even start to count of all the big store bought words I come across to describe the whole religion and christian and belief thing.

But thats fine......If these movements or whatever want to believe that God was one way yesterday...but He is something else today and will probably be totally different tomorrow....Then I say...Have at it...Hell is going to be full of people to share those ideals and beliefs with you for all eternity....

Im no expert...and I sure dont know a lot...but this I do know...

..I believe there is a God and we are created in his image.
..I believe that He sent his son Jesus in human form to this earth and He was also God.
..Jesus died on a cross and rose from the dead.
..I ask Jesus to forgive me my sins and he gave me the Holy Spirit to help me walk through this life.
..I was baptized in a creek to show my belief in my new life.
..I walk each day trying to become more Christ like by Spending time in worship and prayer and learning of Him.
..I make some kind of effort to do Gods will or work.
..When I mess up or sin I ask for forgiveness and for strength to do better.
..I dont need no label or title or fancy words to describe me...
..Its just that simple.....IM GOING TO HEAVEN!

So these people can believe what they want to believe...they can tweak the Word to fit their needs or life style...They can call it what they want to call it and dress it up as pretty as they please. Nothing has changed....satan is still satan and if you havent decided in your heart that the only way to the Father is with Jesus...then you have a sad eternity with ole man satan by your side ahead of you!

So I simply say my good friend thrifty....Let them there people bring anything they want to bring to my neck of the woods. Us hillbillys got something for them...AMEN!
