New wave of hiring at Evergreen The shorts may think Evergreen is in deep trouble, but based on all the new jobs Evergreen posted today, you would think they are ramping up for some very big operations. Judge for yourself:
Yeah, one would think they were ramping up for something unless you happened to know that the majority of these positons are for their basic core operations. EEE, along with virtually every other manufacturer in that region (PRB) have been HURTING for qualified MSHA card Electricians and Instrument and Controls technicians.
In fact, NO FEWER THAN SEVEN, qualified I&C technicians have left Evergreen since summer. Two of those technicians left for, among other things, fear of their personal safety (something to do with fires, explosions, vessels rumbling loose from their foundations when pressurized, and routinely operating vessels at pressures in excess of their MAWP (maximum allowable working pressures).
One fire was due to spontaneous combustion of product (MSHA Register JUL.6th, 2007 ) that likely left a contract employee with permanent injuries and lung damage. And what has to be one of the best attempts at spin I've ever heard, what Mr. Collins refered to as "a pressure wave" (October 2007) was to the rest of us grunts, in fact, an explosion.
