wbmw, in 3 years time Intel will be in a very hard transitioning period. We already learned that P4 core has only 2 years more to go. In 2007, Intel will attack the market with a core we don't know much yet, but it will have nothing to do with Netburst. Most likely, it will have much shorter pipeline and about 50% clock speed comparing to P4.

From consumer point of view, the 5.5 Ghz P4 will be replaced with 3.0 Ghz P5. Intel will have a very hard time explaining that Ghz is not speed, while Athlon 64 will be a very established and strong platform at the time, with a PR rating of 6000. How Intel will position a 3 Ghz cpu against A64 6000 I wonder.
