Omni, I couldn't agree more! I definitely am a "small time" trader and I used to use HarrisDirect which costs $20 per trade. Immediately after buying something I considered myself $40 in the hole because of the 2 $20 commission charges. Before I knew about Free Trade, I had heard about lowtrades.com so I opened an account there. I think I opened it with $400 just to test it out. Every trade I have made only costs me $5.00 so it is a lot easier to sell "a mistake" early on knowing that the total commission that I will lose is only $10 as opposed to $40. My Harris Direct account still has some POS's that I got stuck in because of the "commission cost" mindset.
I've been stuck with ameritrade for awhile, which as limited my desire to trade in small amounts. So when I lose, I have in the past taken bigger losses because of how much I committed. I am finally getting set up with freetrade, and expect this will help tremendously.
