excel,

I'm putting a link to that post on my board.

Sometimes I talk about how I got away from the "turkeys" to try to soar with the EAGLES. Your post is a perfect example of the kind of attitude that makes a person into one of those eagles.

Thanks!!

way to win this game is to use a service like freetrade or some other low cost service so jumping in and out of trades the phycological commision cost won't even have a chance to play in the back of your mind.

I like to call it sparing: i like 2 spar with stocks throw a few shares at em and see how they responed to it just like boxing so i can get a feel of what the market makers are doing. are they flash filling or they taking 4 ever to fill.

I can do this with freetrade because it doesnt cost but a measly 1.00 to find out the action is on a stock.

if and when I get the beat on it then I start wanting to buy more.

if i lose or wrong on the trade I take a small loss. I dont show my true intentions upfront.

Nice post. Coming from one (I am sure of many) who has lost a few shirts learning his way, a level head and lack of emotion is key!

great post buddy....February was a down month for most, but for me TRBY alone got me 300%+ profits and I did have most of my capital in that one:) March until date has just seen me lose money - be it GBLL, TVCE, BLYC (my bad timing:(....but I am not unhappy about BLYC cause I realized on thursday as soon as I saw the dip that I wasnt in the mind frame to play tht volitility and got out - small loss).... March hasnt seen me lose more than 10% compared to my 300% in Feb. .... looking forward to the better trading days starting next week...strong feelings about GZFX, TRBY (maybe consolidating), GMDP (dividend is profit), CIRT and SHRN (hopefully) :)
Yes, I am looking forward to my better tommorow:) and damn right, I am going to nail this game down:)
Cheers:)

nice post:

protect yourself from chasing stocks by using technical entries and exits. resist the emotional impulse. what is your reason for entering a trade? if you answer, because i want to scalp a quick buck, rethink your strategy. if you answer, because the stock has moved through resistance (which is now support), and there is frenetic buying in time and sales, and the stochs are at 66, and OBC is trending up, and, etc. etc. then buy the stock.

when buying at technical levels, you provide yourself with a technical failsafe, an exit strategy, namely a stop loss at a price that shows you were wrong about the stock, for example if the stock loses a new support level.

Great post Excel, you read my mind. That's why (although I have been guilty of it a couple times) I'm glad Hack and Omni cracked down on the "WEEEEEE's" and "BOOOOOOM's". I'm looking at an all RED screen and everybody else is screaming "WEEEEEEEEE". While I'm happy for ANYONE who can make money in this market, it does make you feel like everything your in is a POS and everybody else just found the next TASR @ $.00067!!!! Again, great post and good luck to all!!

Thanks bud nice post-
I fight those feelings constantly-
IMO Self control is the key to success in trading and in life in general, you could have all the tools to trade stocks but with lack of mental self control your labor will be in vain.

excel, your post belongs in the IBOX! Now I know I'm not alone :) But because there is more of a tendency to post your winners than to post trades where you lost I guess it's normal that we would hear more about the winners.

But I wonder how many people get into a stock because a highly respected trader here does, but will continue to hold once the momo is gone because they aren't listening to their OWN gut and research as far as timing, and are relying on the good trader to tell them when to get out. S/he is under no obligation to do that! It's YOUR account that's on the line.

Since I've been visiting the board I have increased my trading account by about 50% in two months. Not spectacular, but encouraging still! Because of the info here I have discovered the power of scans and I'm working on my charting knowledge.

Omni always ask us to control ourselves, but sometimes it is just impossible, particularly when you have spent 300 years DDing a stock and done all the TA. February was brutal too me, but march so far has been just find, and I am starting to see the my learning curve is at the HOY; no I do get out on time to take a small profit rather than just sit there like a Macho and end up breaking even or with a lose.
VLVT and BLYC have been kind to me.

Great post excel, I have been through probably all the emotions you stated and more. It's happened so much that I almost got used to and expect (which is not good) the stock to go up a couple hundred percent after I sell, lol.
But I always get back up and realize that I am learning more and more with every mistake. Great post it makes us realize we are not the only ones that go through it. Take Care
