Spunky, not that I have seen the movie, but I understand the concept. Of course, in the physcological dimension this type of new thinking can be especially hard for a sociopath. Imagine that you believe your way of thinking and pecieving the world --- that is, Lanza's sick perception of reality --- is what you project onto other people. Sociopath's think everyone else is just like them. To the extent that they come to realize that is not true, well, that is the first step to becoming a normal person. So, in many ways what you are asking Lanza to do is to become a normal person. I don't think he is capable of this. It would more in keeping with who he is for him to fight to the bitter end, no matter has irrational. Remember, he is not computing the facts as you and me might.
