As I understand the LU action, it does involve Tantivy's "Smart Antenna" and it therefore may benefit the Tantivy sellers via the earnout on "Smart Antenna" revenues.
There is a strong IMPLICATION of an obligation on the part of IDCC to enforce those patents, and evidently LU was a blatant and well known (to Tantivy) infringer. Do you have the complete acquisition documents that might speak to this apparent obligation on the part of IDCC (to enforce Tantivy's patents)?
My INFERENCE is that the LU action is obligatory under the Tantivy acquisition terms, and this action is (unfortunately) not a master initiative by IDCC to pursue new licenses at this time.
I hope to hear on the CC that the LU action is not obligatory, and that it is a strong initiative by management at this time to drive new licenses.
