"Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't this also mean that anyone can do similar for THEIR system?"
KP, you are correct.

"This camera can be purchased by anyone, but the key is that for "this" particular application, it will only work with the Virtra System."

Definately a "play on words". It means that it works with Virtra's system because they are the only one's using it.

KP - I will try to gather all your questions for rouster that could take all day though LOL. Now Bob has a taste of what I go though<BG>

re:Bob, exactly WHAT is patented in this unique system? Beyond a circuit board patent that was issued (for the kiosk systems?) Greg, correct me if I am wrong but where are all these "patents" in this patented system?

FWIW Here is Kelly's statement again regarding patents "VTSI believes that its trade secrets are definitely protected by patent and trademark laws."

I am sure Bob will answer your question throughly.

IMO The Universal control board is a key part of the whole system and without it the system wouldn't work. The patent I believe will cover any system the control board is used for. I don't know the Intellectual Property Laws but I ass-u-me Virtra has all their bases covered. You realize the training system is just a super kiosk right LOL?

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to arcades. More particularly, the present invention relates to adapting personal computer (PC) based applications to an automated format for use in arcades and unattended kiosks.

What is a kiosk?
keywords=video, film, DV, camera, shooting, video production

In the multimedia world, a kiosk is generally a self-contained enclosed unit having computer, video, and audio capabilities, often with a touch-screen.

OK, KP and David... you both need to understand (as if you didn't already know..lol) that you too, could dig this info (you are requesting) up yourselves, as well. I'm challenging you both to do so.

My mama always told me "God helps those who help themselves".

Help yourselves to some DD (get in there and dig) and then please report it back to us all here. Your questions are quite valid and important, I'm impressed with your objectivities... but it's time to lower the arms on your armchairs and get involved beyond posting time-consuming inquiries and then laying back for the results.

With your collective and individual levels of intelligence, I am sure that you both already know (or feel you know) the answers to your questions BEFORE you ask them. I think that's true of most questions that anyone asks, don't you? Nothing wrong with that, but true.

LOL...I can see KP grimacing as he mutters "that FB, he's taking it there..."...yeah bro, I am.

Get in the trenches guys, and then validate or refute. Be detectives and continue to search for reasons why we should or shouldn't be here. But do some work on your own, then post both your query AND your findings so we all can learn where this company really is.
:)

I DO know one thing board, when we get KP's nod of approval, Timhyma's and streetshooter's go-ahead on the charts, Aly's bill of clean health, we definitely have something. These are all members of the BTS board.
All these guys know their stuff. David, I'm just beginning to read you and enjoy your intelligence as well. Keep digging for those Q's as they formulate in your inquisitive mind. This can only help us all.

Now, here's more on my take based upon your questions so far:

KP said:
"The fact remains that anyone apparently can outsource based on their own product specs so is this really SO unique to us?"

....What is unique is the "utilization" of the cameras. Haag told me that it takes (I think) 6 or 9 cameras to create the 360 degree experience. That is the unique part, no one else has 360 and no one else can do what Virtra's system can do.
My post from yesterday stated: "Virtra designed and developed the circuitry, the framework, the syncronization, and arranged it all in such a way so that the integration worked etc."
This is what the others don't have. They don't have the circuitry, the framework, or the snycronization abilites to tie it all together. Virtra developed it from the ground up. KP, yes they worded it expertly in the PR and that's where I believe it came from now. You know what? They also didn't invent the screens that it's shown on.
:)

A camera is just a camera without a photographer, right? A photographer is just a photographer unless he can make his pictures talk to the eyes of the person viewing his pictures, and to also somehow enable the viewer to walk alongside him by just looking at his picture.
Virtra is Ansell Adams at this writing... the others are still doing wedding pics.... (hey, I liked that one myself, even..lol)

KP said: "again, what I am left with is more integration (which VTSI seems good at!)..."

...and I'm very happy that they are KP. I'd sure hate to be betting on a football team that thinks they can win a game with only a backfield and no offensive line, aren't you?

KP said: "The fact remains that anyone apparently can outsource based on their own product specs so is this really SO unique to us?"

Again, they have to be able to make use of it or be forever destined to only do weddings. ....remember, the framework, the circuitry, the syncronization, the integration of it all...

KP said: "...and knowing that there are many car manufactures out there with equal or better radios (keeping with the example) ... then doesn't that put this whole situation in a light quite different from the clever PR that people "bought"?

...no, I don't think so. I think it exemplifies it and makes us the poster child. We aren't the radio company, we are the revolutionary Corvette (I switched car manufacturers because I hate Ford's..lol) that blows away and outperforms other sports cars priced at far above our asking price.

KP AND David asked: " Bob, exactly WHAT is patented in this unique system?

I challenge David and KP to find that out for us and to report those findings back to us. I too, want to know this.

Kp, I don't think ownership of the camera is a issue. Microsoft does not make a computer just an operating system.
As I see it VirTra has designed an operating system for recording images in a 360 x 360 degree format, anybody can buy a camera or two but to get them to work together in full sync and all that other stuff they will need Bob or a big check. lol
