First I'll say Boras represented Arod poorly.

Wasn't the Yankees original extension offer $30M a year? Then it sounds like he took a pay cut. If he signed a deal for $275M.

The added $30M on the deal isn't salary. That is revenuse sharing from the merchandizing of the HR chase. I'd be curious to see if it's guaranteed. Sounds like an awful lot of souvenirs. And that part needed MLB approval.

True Hank did say goodbye and said he wouldn't resign him. It's took GS and Buffet to reopen the door for Hank to listen.

When you consider everything Arod and Boras should have realized from the beginning with the kind of money you're talking the Yankees were the ONLY team to sign with.

IMO Hank and the Yankees called Boras' bluff. After all Boras was looking for $350M.

What would you have done if you were in Hank's shoes?

This will be the test of Hank's word...

NASHVILLE, Dec. 4 — The Yankees’ pursuit of Johan Santana is over, according to Hank Steinbrenner, the team’s senior vice president, after the Yankees and the Minnesota Twins failed to agree on a deal Tuesday.

“The deadline is the deadline,” Steinbrenner said in a telephone interview. “I extended it a few hours more, and that was it. So it’s done.”
