That reminds me the haydays when ramboids were buying few INTC motherboards that operated with RDRAM, but somehow, the mainstream market did not follow. If there were indeed massive shipments, just as RMBS technically strengthened on INTC efforts (at the time, including an $80 per chip subsidy directly from INTC) to coerce the memory makers to adopt RDRAM to mainstream PC's.
