It use to be that was a very common trait amongst the systems guru's. I'm finding that with the newer generation that is less true. We have a guy here who graduated from MIT... very bright guy and very personable and down to earth. Have you seen A Beautiful Mind yet?
He said "I hear it's being written in 'beta'".
To which my friend immediately replied "Good thing. Alpha's not very reliable."
Classic Microsoft. The previous owner of the company I work for told me once we should do things like Microsoft... just throw any ole thing out as quickly as possible, that way you get people to buy it before a competitor can get to market. Then you go back and fix your product to keep the customers. I guess marketing guys like that philosophy. I've gotten a lot of heat over the years for refusing to do that and waiting until it's in decent shape before release... guess that's why we've always had a low bug rate. Geez, what happened to putting out quality?
