Weekly charts for sector funds. includes 3 new additions and the oil services sector which is not yet active as of 2-14-04. I have orgainized by groups that tend to move together. also the top ones generally make larger percent moves (higher beta).

Wireless definitely took the number one spot today for profunds on the merger news. it was up 11.94%. my gold fund was a distant second at 4.48%. its kind of an extenuating circumstance, but i missed.

16/18 sectors above 13 ema on daily. gold joined NC below.

carnage today. a full 13/18 sectors dropped under teh 13 ema today up from only three yesterday. that will generally act as resistance now and hold down rallies.

CUV is a modest red -.14% for europe

today now looking like the day the rut breaks its streak of beating the ndx. it was up a lot more in the am but has faded harder. by nature of how it trades, the ndx should outperform it until the close and break the streak at 6 days

this shouuld help the telecom fund out today as VZ is about a third of the fund. i may regret cutting back to a 50% acct position, but felt i needed to for risk management reasons

Verizon Reports Fourth-Quarter Profit

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ - News) on Thursday posted a fourth-quarter profit due to asset sales and strong demand at its Verizon Wireless unit.

Verizon, the largest U.S. telecommunications company, said it earned $3 billion, or $1.08 per share, compared with a loss of $1.5 billion, or 53 cents a share, a year earlier.

The year-ago results included $3.1 billion in special charges, mostly from an employee buyout program.

asia and europe strong in light of a decently red CUV and continue to look very good. should bode well for our green day too. ppi at 830 and mich sent at 945 could have some impact on markets but realistically prolly not a lot

back to class again today and rest of the week for hte most part. big moves in futes overnight. dollar got killed and gold surging. looks like its a straight shot to 100 xau from here.

oil also up sharply to almost 50 dollars again

index futes also poised to gap down 2/3 of a percent in ndx so longs (myself included) will be getting beat up today. i may get follow thru in Pharma sector and TL does go counter ndx sometimes so i may be alright. that and they have gone down what seems like almost every day for months. (that is pretty much true except for a 4 day bounce weeks ago). sure would be nice to get a deja vu on that about now as my patience is growing mighty thin for the telecom sector.

scanning thru the sector charts and all i can say is WOW! some really nasty candles today. lots more room to go on the daily sto's on many which would scare the crap out of me if i was long.

orders in on time for once. staying 100% long, just shifting the funds around a bit.
