There's a long answer to that question, but the short version is that there will definitely be more appeals and litigation no matter what happens in the FTC's initial decision. However, the FTC ALJ (administrative law judge) was very thoughtful and will likely issue a very lengthy detailed decision which, if favorable to Rambus, has a good chance of being affirmed in the long run by the court of appeals. A powerful statement that Rambus did not act unlawfully would have a chain-reaction effect in other pending litigation. Conversely, a negative determination could be devastating short term at least.
