Gmarket Site Sales Volume Rises 35 Percent in 3rd Quarter


NEW YORK (AP) -- Gmarket Inc., a South Korea-based operator of an online marketplace, said Friday third-quarter sales on its site rose 35 percent, boosted by computers, electronics and clothing.
The company sold merchandise with a gross market value of 775.6 billion won ($844.6 million) in the quarter, up from 573 billion won ($627.4 million) last year.

Gmarket plans to report third-quarter earnings Nov. 8.

Gmarket shares rose 71 cents, or 2.7 percent, top $26.75 in premarket trading. they closed at $26.04 on Thursday.
