But the short interest didn't start increasing until after September 27th. Though FTDs still could have gone through without anyone knowing.

This is beginning to make sense now, it's almost like he's deliberately triggering a short squeeze. First he posts the O/S to be a little over 41 million, then he goes and buys 1.9 billion shares, like "hey look at me, notice anything strange? *cough* shorts *cough*." However this still doesn't explain the increase in A/S. If anyone has any ideas, help me out on that one.
