Mr. Wayne... I believe companies change their names by choice because they want to issue new stock for new investors. Also, by r/s'ing then changing the name, companies usually announce the old stock is deemed worthless and this gets rid of the old annoying common shareholders from the last shell holding corp.

JW Companies change their symbol for many reasons. One being a name change and the symbol better reflect the new name. With a name change there is often a new business plan, a reverse merger, an acquisition. A R/S prior to this may be what is need to make the companies share structure more attractive to investors or to lenders.
