Good Afternoon, Terry

I think I understand the thought, but I disagree with it ... vehemently.

Those who blare such phrases as "brown shirts", "cabal", "wealthy industrialists", "K.K.K" and "fascists" have no interest in conveying information. They have no goal other than sales ... and the best way to increase sales is to scream about evil. Books like that are designed to inflame the passions of their readers. Authors and publishers churn those things out by the dozens. It's a business. They don't care which side of the political spectrum they incite, as long as they can sell it.

Suppose there was such a coup. So what? Does the book tell us how to change what happened? Does it describe a method of correcting the result? What tools does it give us to improve the government we've inherited?

What is the difference between that book and the outrageous outpouring of hatred-inspiring misinformation, innuendo, deceitfulness and flat-out lies that cascaded out of every available source of public information after September 11, 2001 ... a flood specifically intended to induce the people of the greatest, most powerful nation on earth to invade a weakling foreign nation ... to send their sons and daughters ... thousands of them ... to die so big American businesses could get control of an important source of oil.

Books like that add nothing to the search for a better government. They litter our minds with nonsense ... so much of it that we lose the ability to think for ourselves.
