Yes, sorry, I got my terminology confused. When I saw securities I thought stocks, and I didn't see until later that he said "treasury securities." Anyway, John's excellent later posts answered my question - any large scale selling of treasury securities means higher interest rates. My feeling now, especially given the clarification of Hashimoto's remarks, is that this drop is wildly overdone. I'm expecting a sharp rebound tomorrow or the next day at latest.
