Wilbur Wood, from Belmont, MA won over 20 games for CHicago and lost 20 games. He was the only pitcher in MLB history in the same year to have the most victories and most losses. He was also a knuckleball pitcher.

When Wakefield is doing well, the team is doing well!

Last year he was in a groove during the first half of the season, everything was clicking for the team just as solid as the knuckle is. Then he just imploded with the rib injury and it hurt the ball club. It was at that same time they began to fall out of the playoff race, with the terrible August when he wasn't pitching at all. The guy can really chew up some innings when he is throwing the knuckle well. It helps out the bullpen and Varitek.

Tonight's line for him is great: 77 pitches for 56 strikes in 7 innings! Glad Francona took him out when he did though. After he's been pitched through the lineup 3 times, I believe the batters start to get the timing down for the knuckle better.

This was also a good win for the Red Sox against Kazmir. Kazmir can shut out the lights against the RS batters. He shut them out the last two starts against the team through 6 innings on both of them! Unfortunately for Kazmir, he didn't get a decision either game!
