Insert obligatory disclaimer here

... about no lead of even 8 runs against the Yankees being safe. At least not until the late innings.

Wow, a salami from former Mariner Carlos Guillen. Nice!

We'll see how Verlander does now ...

Moose is definitly not the pitcher he once was and personally as I said last week I do not have a good feeling on days he pitches. He needs to stop blaming the umps when he doesn't get the calls he wants that are close because once you show up the ump your done, they won't give you that call the rest of the night.

Since I've called four in a row

... Yankees games, that is, I'll stick my neck out for a fifth: I like the Yankees today.

Nate Robertson (7-9, 5.01 ERA, 1.57 WHIP)
vs.
Andy Pettitte (9-7, 3.93 ERA, 1.44 WHIP)

Pettitte has pitched consistently well for more than a month, and while Robertson has also been quite consistent for even longer than that, what's been most consistent about him is his ERA, which has hovered right around 5.00.

Both teams have identical 67-54 records and are hitting well these days, though they're going in somewhat opposite directions with the Yanks losing 3 in a row while the Tigers have split their past three series evenly. The Yankees may also be navel-gazing from their heels after their announcement that they won't pursue A-Rod if he chooses not to renew his contract with them. My guess is that he does unless another team can convince the Yanks to assume more of his salary after he departs, which seems doubtful.

My guess is that the Yanks win today anyhow.

FWIW, I like the Yankees tomorrow and Sunday, too.
