The question is: unless a dividend is meaningful, why bother?
I suppose that they do need to attract a different class of investors, now that Intel is no longer a growth stock. Maybe some funds simply require *a* dividend, no matter how small, for inclusion?
The reward is the not neglible satisfaction in knowing that the competition AMD provides keeps PC prices low and rate of advances high ... oh and also keeps your share price depressed ... which is just deserts for the amount of spam you generate. :-)
