Vettray.exe? That is that outdated antivirus program. Are you still using it?
Well, that's the anti-virus we're using. I know it's old and feeble but it still seems to be doing a good job.
Wan network Driver? You need to "Disable" it in Device manager.
I removed that device in hardware profiles a few times when we first got the machine, but when I re-booted WinXP re-installed it every time. ??
I see you took AOL of the box. GOOD!
Actually, in services I set the AOLCSD to DISABLE mode instead of MANUAL and that seems to have killed it.
Where did the other drive come from and why is it so full already? We have some work to do on it but your answer makes a difference.
It's an external USB 40Gb drive we use to store music and family pictures on. Out adult daughters download their images on our PC to show us pics of the grandkids, and we come along about once every 6 months and move them to the USB drive. We were just overdue on doing this.
Other than viewing the grandkid's pics on the monitor every now and then or printing the occasional picture, that drive doesn't do much for a living.
Bruce, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you've taken to help us get the Dell back to the amazing speed it had when we first got it.
Oh, one thing to mention. This particular micro-tower doesn't have expansion room inside for an additional hard drive. It was a cheapie but we're happy with it. Get this: the AGP card is half-height and won't accept a full size AGP graphics card! That worked out OK though 'cause the PCI dual-VGA card worked beautifully and now SUBBlime has (3) monitors and is one happy camper.
And you know what they say: If mama ain't happy, then nobody's happy. :)
Kindest regards,
James.
