Get some acetone (fingernail polish remover) from the spousal unit (or female friendly unit) and clean the CPU core chip and the bottom of the heat sink. Put the old heatsink in a sandwich bag in the same box as all your other spare parts. My box has grown to two office copy paper boxes full of cables and tradin' junk.
You will be getting a tube of thermal compound with the SLK.
I hope you undrstand that the shutting off of all the programs last night was only for the test. (g)
