Bob, Thanks for your reply. I wonder though whether you would see it once it gets to your front door.

Might some coding projects for Si & iHub remain forever
at the bottom of the to-do list, and never get coded?

First a Question: Can Si & iHub, private for-profit companies,
have open-sourcing projects using volunteers with no conflicts
in the labor work laws?

As for the why on Si/iHub's side is to get features available
in the current time frame, rather than the forever later.

The why for a person to code for free and retain no ownership
could be described in the article that follows.

With the outsourcing of coding jobs from America to countries
like India, more and more computer programmers will join those
starving artist and musicians having non skilled day jobs as their
only source of income.

As the article discusses, its a great way for a company to obtain
many a person's coding & people skills when eventually a hire
is planned in the near future.

Sure would increase available features very quickly.

I'am sure the Linus "tree" for controls on development activity
is rock solid for modifications and builds.

The only BIG Fly in the iOintment is that the source code would
be visual for anyone or any web message board company to see
and copy and use for themselves. There are ways to hide such,
using an object approach that contain false inputs and outputs,
and the manner of how the objects are use is keep secret,
as is what feature is functioned.
