China Mobile Expands GSM Networks with Nortel Networks

China Mobile has utilised technology from communications technology and infrastructure provider Nortel Networks to expand its GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) digital cellular networks.
GSM networks in the Chinese provinces of Hebei, Liaoning and Shaanxi and in the Tianjin Municipality and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have all been deployed.
The upgraded networks will benefit from increased network capacity, and allow subscribers to enjoy a higher standard of service. The combined contract value is estimated to be around USD60m.
Nortel Networks has now deployed wireless networks in 17 of the 31 provinces in China.
