since the Celgene drug is an oral anti TNF agent, it would be natural to also study it for rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's
disease.
"The company said it will accelerate development of CC-10004 for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis."

EntreMed investors should realize that the company may be more about keeping itself in business by being a research company than in actually bringing products to market. Is this an unreasonalbe thought or fear on my part? I don't think so. I've been following this company for a long time, and have been an investor for going on four years, and the most significant impression I have about EntreMed's management is that they're more about keeping the flow going and keeping their high paying jobs than anything else.

And still I invest.

However, the world is not flat, and Celgene's involvement may well be more about keeping EntreMed out of the party, knowing that EntreMed's 2ME2 would completely change the world and take billions upon billions out of the pockets of big Pharma.

Believe me, as strange and paranoid as this may sound to people, it may well be true. EntreMed and 2ME2 may in fact be under the control of people who are best served by intentionally stalling the process. This would explain why EntreMed is so much slower to act agressively in its own interest than other successful companies like Celgene and Elan.

Do we live in a world where people are more concerned with the status quo than the health and well being of millions of suffering human beings? You bet we do.

ENMD's situation is different from Celgene's. ENMD is in the position of an unproven, cash-burning biopharma, the kind that often announces PIII trials based on ambiguous or insufficiently warranting PII results. ENMD can't afford a rash move like that. Why jump the gun and announce PIII before properly announcing PII and letting that sink in? One step at a time. CELG (and Elan and Wyeth) are big boys --- they can get afford to scoop PII results and announce the move to PIII early. It's pretty much a blip in their overall operations. Also, they're under a lot more media scrutiny, and have a lot more at stake in keeping the PR engine pumping. Not so ENMD. Burns, imho, is playing this just right.
