I would actually like to see Roger go to the Astros! I would even forgive him for claiming the retirement was permanent(and to all you Wankee fans out there, no I'm not just glad because he left the Wankees). Long ago he claimed he only wanted to play for a Texas team, he had a verbal deal with the Rangers and reneged to Toronto for more money. Now, I think it might be enjoyable for him and the fans if he actually did what he intended long ago. Play for his home team. Go for it Rog!

It would be nice for us to pick up Pettite and Clemens. Now, if we could just get Wagner back and pick up a real lead off hitter and center fielder, we would be in business. Unfortunately, I suspect that we may trade Hidalgo for very little (salary dump) and end up with a poorer overall team next year. Starting pitching may get better, but offense will suffer.

I would also like to see us resign Orlando Merced. He has been a steady utility player and great pinch hitter. But, I suspect he will land elsewhere for more than we would pay him. While i am glad we signed Pettite, I hope it does not end up costing us much more in the long run.

Heck, if we could spend $100+ million, we could come close to buying a world series appearance.
