TKO,

It is a relatively simplified answer for you regarding the delay, but ...

From what I gather, the button or approval switch to get the new content loads turned on ... Lies with Sean, who has a LOT on his plate, and is searching for more hours in the day, so to speak, and knows more about this than any of us, there may be an actual reason for not slapping up content every day ... Maybe the posts by Nerolabs hold some credence ...

I think this bit of a delay will not hurt us, as long term investors

IF ... IF there were already a mass announcement article "singing our praises as THE Online Movie messiah site" ... I would be pulling my hair out, booking flights to Seattle, sitting on the pot, being restrained, etc ....LOL

Until then, we will watch, wait, listen and see the progress evolve ... We will NOT be passed by overnight, fear is an enemy, I trust we have an even clearer plan than a few months ago

Submitted IMHO,

Phil... GETTING REEL

FYI: Here is the post I refering to, it may NOT be applicable now, assuming upgrades and larger capacity currently?:

I wanted to chime in here. This is Nerolabs from GridNetworks, for those that aren't familiar with me.

Though I can't comment on ReelTime's internal decision making I can tell you what we advise all of our customers: don't add content just for the sake of adding it, even if you have 10,000 hours of it.

Let me explain.

Grid Efficiency - that is the rate in which we can propogate material to peers is an equation, one that is carefully managed by us. The better the grid efficiency, the better the reliability of the network, and the quality of the experience for the user.

Follow along with me here:

MORE USERS (without more content) = better Grid Efficiency
MORE CONTENT (without more users) = less Grid Efficiency

You need more users before you can add more content. Truly, for an optimal situation you need 16 new users before you can add any new one piece of content. For a company like Netflix or Blockbuster they have 50,000 movies for something like 7 million users. There is no way they could make money with 50,000 movies and 50,000 users, or 7 million users and 7 million movies.

If a customer like ReelTime got a really big content deal (and honestly I know nothing of this, period), they probably would get a TON of users, boosting their Grid Efficiency, and increasing the quality, and effieciency of the whole network.

On the other hand, if they stay with a small base of users, and just add more content, their Grid Efficiency drops, effecting the quality of the network, and therefore the experiences of the end users.

This system was built to scale, and by that, the more users the better. My advice to ReelTime would be (and I tell this to all our customers) - make sure the content you are going to add is content that will draw more users. Don't add more of the same.

I don't know if they are following my advice or not, but they have been told that I do know.
