Knute-
At what age are you permitted to transfer from an IRA to a normal investment account? I think I still have a bit to go.

Also, I know that normally when you withdraw money early from an IRA you pay income taxes plus a penalty for early withdrawal -10% I believe. I wasn't clear what you said happened in your transfer. I know the penalty didn't come into play, but what costs were involved?

I did the exact same thing and paid the tax on the shares as of 2006,I to think it is a prudent move. I did it when the shares were at $2.39.

Hi, Knute'..I'm in the same situation, re'..age group...so your post was esp.interesting..My thought is that whether you transfer cash or stocks from an IRA to a personal acct., that is a taxable transaction..Have you considered that?? Flyer'
