A change is needed in the architecture that is built in places like Florida and Arizona for both similar and diferent reasons.

Ranch houses have to be built like concrete fondations with windows facing only North and East (away from the sun) with flat roofs made of hollow core concrete plank (they can span up to 40 feet). Earth would then be piled up around the south and west sides and on the roof. This would solve a major energy problem (air conditioning) and also protect against weather damage.

I see you have come to the revelation that this "excitement" is what drives a lot of this. I notice the local Dallas TV stations all have some form of "storm chasing" vehicles now. I guess they will be happy if they are the 1st. to get blown away. With recent storms they were going berserk with continuous on the spot coverage... Must have been a slow news day, well slow for anything titillating. All of the news and weather has gotten like this and it is sad. IT is all about viewership now.
