That's not a bad opening day. Milwaukee ball coming to Citi can only be an upgrade on the Mets deadwood roster of has-beens and overpaid medical patients.
This roster has some bright spots- certainly Soto, Alvarez, McClean, Freddy. Lindor has been worth his paycheck up until this year.....but don't know how the clubhouse dynamic is with Soto. And there are players who are serviceable to fill out the starting 9.
The problem is that plan B hasn't worked out. At all. Lose Tucker, hype-sign Bichette. Lose Pete, well that's a different disaster story. Dump McNeil and Nimmo, sign Roberts. Then cry about injuries.
Looks like it Stearns and Mendy for the whole season. Hey, the Phillies should be at .500 next week. The Mets might take a while longer, but there's no way this Mets team should be looking up in the standings at the likes of Miami, Washington and St Louis.
