#22672 RE: Fangster #22671

Well, some of my wording could have been better in that post, but I think you guys get it. Regarding Dr. Makary, I don't know what to say about that as it is still just a rumor and I have no idea who would replace him. Either way, the agenda isn't his. Who ever replaces him will have the same issues to handle and the same agenda to fulfill. Agency heads change all the time. IMO, the FDA's imminent CBD Compliance and Enforcement Policy will tell us almost everything we need to know.

Six different topics below...

1.) A well written article with a nice historical timeline and mentions of CW, AJNA, and DeFloria...

2.) Another new article mentioning CW, AJNA, Joel Stanley, etc...this one is more focused on the future of manufacturing plant based drugs...

3.) "Cannabidiol-Induced Tumor Cell Death: Molecular Mechanisms and Translational Perspectives in Cancer Therapy":
08 May 2026

Therapeutic Implications
By coordinately engaging multiple cell death pathways and modulating the tumor microenvironment, CBD provides mechanistic insights and potential opportunities for the development of novel anticancer strategies. However, current evidence remains predominantly preclinical, while challenges related to oral bioavailability, pharmacokinetic variability, dose optimization, and potential drug interactions continue to limit translational progress.

Conclusion
Collectively, available evidence suggests that CBD functions as a pleiotropic modulator of tumor cell fate rather than a classical single-target cytotoxic agent. Further mechanistic, pharmacological, and clinical studies are required to support the rational development of CBD-based anticancer therapies.

4.) Fangster, regarding Dr. Makary, fwiw, I like him much better than all previous FDA Commissioners for many reasons. For one thing, his connection with Johns Hopkins is a big positive for the cannabinoid movement, especially given Johns Hopkins connection to the Commonwealth Project...

We build on the legacy of Realm of Caring and research from Johns Hopkins University, using biomarker-driven science to link ECS restoration to measurable health outcomes.

I think Dr. Makary's only real negative issue is that he is trying to keep everyone happy, and that is rarely easy to do. The rumors about his departure seem to be more hopeful(from a small group) than factual...
