Do you think when Walter invested he believed there'd be no customer contracts 20 years later? He won the lottery (having said that - you must be in it to win it, so credit where it's due)
He hand-waved the company's deceit away out of pure idiocy and blindness (calling all the stuff about 'cadence of catalysts', imminent deals etc a mere 'mistake' when it was far more sinister). This is one of those funny situations in life where someone gets rewarded for behaving irrationally!
