What a mess. The crux of the problem is that Iran's missiles and drones haven't been neutralized. Key missiles and drones are hidden within the mountainous terrain, and as long as they are there, we're screwed. With these missiles / drones, they can - 1) hit anything in the Strait, and - 2) cripple the oil / gas infrastructure throughout the Gulf States. So they have us by the balls. The solution is to somehow get rid of those remaining missiles / drones, but if that was easy, the US would have already done it.
Hypersonics are the other problem, and there is virtually no defense against these. Iran has already used a hypersonic missile to hit right next to Israel's all-important Dimona nuclear facility (see next post). The situation is beyond dangerous, and Israel would respond by nuking Iran.
Bottomline, technology has advanced to where the previous military 'balance' is out the window. EMP weapons are the biggest example, and a single orbital EMP weapon puts a small country (or group) on equal footing with the biggest superpower. Scary times.
