Representative Issa(R-California) chaired a House Judiciary subcommittee-Committee “Oversight” meeting at 10 am this morning where Mr. Squires, Under Secretary of Commerce and Director of the PTO, was the one invited witness. Among many topics discussed, the backlog of 800k + patent applications is being reduced and Examiners are using AI to shorten the many hours normally spent in searching/reviewing prior art to minutes.
