It may be that a single quantum computer may be limited to 1000 qubits BUT how about parallel/networked quantum computers? We have seen the benefits of parallelism with regular CPUs and this could be the initial method of of ramping up the compute necessary for some of the interesting applications.
however todays quantum computers are already solving real commercial problems faster than regular ones ever have. As more qubits and better fidelity come in these commercial applications will only grow and return more accurate answer more quickly.
