I may be wrong on this but the impression I got was that announcements about drilling for REE last fall were more generic than specific, as in “we plan to” stages. The end-of-January 2026 report has a line that makes it clear the BFS drilling was specifically for “the Colosseum gold project.” It’s possible all the drills stayed focused on gold targets last fall to get the BFS done ASAP. Note that all drill results that were announced throughout the fall mentioned drilling around the pits and discovery of gold intercepts. DTREF issued multiple gold-only reports.
The other impression I got was that the Induced Polarization survey done in December was intended to help with refining new targets before drilling—again, my impression. That same report said interpretation of the data was still ongoing. DTREF has done multiple surveys and with the help of analysts, has been overlapping the data results to figure out the new priority targets. Which is why I came away thinking the first actual REE drilling in earnest hasn’t taken place till this month. With the BFS gold targets out of the way, and with the help of past surveys and the IP data in hand, drilling targets are now being refined so they can be acted upon.
