Tagging posts doesn't prevent silly name flinging.

if I were a Mod and valued discussion about the company over silly name flinging, then I'd tag posts.

Since Admin allows it the last couple of years, silly name flinging will happen. It wasn't allowed previously. This latest change will just enable more of it.

If I understand the change correctly, it will only allow mods to "tag" a post, essentially categorizing it. It will do nothing to discourage silly name flinging.

Well, if I were a Mod and valued discussion about the company over silly name flinging, then I'd tag posts.

Not an easy nor enviable task these days (managing or "policing" a social media platform).....
I've personally preferred the (original ?) old format where the discussion of other Members was taboo.
IT seemed to keep things (including moderation) relatively simple (plus perhaps commentary more civil)

Regardless, evidently we'll NOW need to "learn" just......what "tagging" IS ?....

Where THIS Gemini inquiry hasn't helped (me) much yet

All sounds like a potential....
What is another word for fustercluck ?
Noun. A chaotic situation where everything seems to go wrong. debacle · catastrophe · disaster · fiasco · omnishambles ?

Currently sounds a bit like an upgrade for the basket of deplorables.....?
Where ;
* Politics has amplified disrespectful viewpoints.

Anyways......Just hope it "works out" and best wishes for all......this (your)....unenviable "centered" ....."regulation"

I (too) miss the days when posts had to be about the company or it's products and posts about other posters were considered Off Topic.

There's also a large group that feels discussion of other Users is vital to the commentary. ..

Oh my God. And frankly, I would be surprised to learn that group is "large". Because in recent years, we've heard from fewer than 10 users who feel other users have sinister "motives" that need to be exposed. Up till now, posts that purport to advance that kind of exposure have been strongly discouraged, and deleted as either off topic or personal attack.

As they should be. A poster's supposed "motives" for posting as he does can only be guessed at. One thing's for sure: whatever they are, they will NOT affect the performance of the stock in question.

So please give up this idea. It will only cause a precipitous decline in the quality of some boards. And it may also encourage some members to deal in genuine defamation. Which I'm sure you don't want.

You do not need to accommodate really stupid ideas. Nobody wants that, except for the people who propose their adoption..
