Congrats.... The most ridiculous post ever to reach a financial board. 🤪\ Attilathehunt wrote: "Perhaps Merck is using this as a ploy to get some other BP to use their funds to outbid them and then when the time is right they attempt to buy NWBO without any competing bids since they "wasted" their funds are other acquisitions."
Yes, I think Merck wants to acquire that company. And I think Merck has been working behind the scenes to disrupt NWBO's approval path. Guess who one of their biggest shareholders is? Ex would know. He refers to him as "Mister....", with reverence.
Of all the acquisitions that Merck did over the past six years, there was only one per-disclosure before the announcement of acquisition deal. It was about Acceleron. The news was disclosed probably after the deal was finalized. So the acquisition of Acceleron was real.
On the other hand, Merck did join the bidding war on Seagen with Pfizer which in the end spent $43b on the company. It was a highly overpriced deal. BTW, Baker Brothers made $7b out of the deal. They returned the proceeds to investors saying that there were no better investment opportunities.
Has Pfizer's pneumococcal vaccine been adopted in several DC vaccine trials run by Mayo? The following collaboration trial between $NWBO and Penn also had Pfizer's PCV7 in the combination. I suppose Pfizer might realize how dumb the deal was after watching Dr. Bosch's 2023 ASCO presentation.
Merck is developing its own KRAS inhibitor now. It will be really interesting to see if Merck will spend over $30b on Revolution next week. I doubt if Merck could be in a good position in the possible bidding war about DCVax after spending $30b on Revolution.

Median PFS was 6.2 mo (95% CI: 4-10), and median OS had not yet been reached, with a 12-mo OS rate of 62% (95% CI: 40-78).
It seems like this time Merck didn't trick any potential competitors into a bidding war on acquiring Revolution, which is a good news for us. If those potential competitors didn't consume their financial resources on Revolution, they will have much more ammo to start a bidding war against Merck on something else.
