The reason would likely be to reiterate their position that they will not be officially commenting on the MAA while it's in progress and to possibly curtail any alleged inadvertent disclosure issue.

I don’t believe an equally unofficial communication would legally cure the alleged inadvertent disclosure issue but maybe the world is that crazy.
