One can buy a new Mac laptop for (Gemini):
"Apple laptops range from about $800 for the entry-level MacBook Air to over $2,500 for the higher-end MacBook Pro."

So, if your computer expert mate bought the Air for $2500, it was new and Apple definitely supports service for new stuff, esp if he spent a little more on insurance for it. Apple usually supports its product for at least 2 years at its stores, which really isn't enough but it would cover your buddy's situation.

Now, what does he think about the war in Gaza?

Do you have new ssd drives too? Or did he throw your old diskdrive in as sata with the ssd's as a second drive.
Is all your data there? Is sit a lap or desktop?

A bar guy at the pub paid $2500 for a, think he said Macbook laptop and a piece in it went bad, when he went to get the new part he was told they don't make those parts any more. So guess i did alright.

There's something wrong with that story. Mac products last a pretty long time.
