I write this on the 24th anniversary of 911 which makes what has happened In the years since that tragic time all the more ironic, sad and ultimately disgusting. 31 year old political activist, Charlie Kirk a man who has been called a “firebrand” or Donald Trump’s right hand man died yesterday from a gunshot wound. Videos of the incident are currently still up on all social media platforms, from many different angles, each more stomach churning than the next. Do yourselves a favor and don’t watch them.
An Ironic Fate
It’s ironic if you were to ask the many people and the way they’re choosing to react to this man’s demise. Charlie made it no secret how he felt about the rights and liberties of others in this country versus the rights and liberties of how he felt about his own. Charlie seemed to have an unnatural dislike for just about any and everyone that didn’t coincide with his staunch conservative, outdated beliefs. I mean come on, the man even had an issue with the word Empathy and Sympathy which he thought were a quote, made up, new age term.” which he believed did a lot of damage.[Insert link - https://ca.news.yahoo.com/fact-check-charlie-kirk-once-001900786.html ] And that says an awful lot considering how his poor widow and children must be feeling hearing mostly people from the political left or those who aren’t into politics at all chose to take to their social media platforms to let it be known that they have zero empathy or sympathy for his untimely death.

You Live By The Gun, You’ll Die By It Too, Even In Support
This is a man who spared no expense spewing what was no less considered extreme hatred and the unacceptance of those who he views as different from himself, a hatred born out of the racist, xenophobic, hyper paranoia that plagues these so called United States right now. And considering the fact that America itself has gone through tragedy after tragedy, many of it self inflicted if you know, you know, you would think that having gone through losses would be the thing that put things into perspective for us as a people given our over all shared experiences on this planet.
Call me a bleeding heart all you like but I genuinely feel we as a society have taken a step back in our progression in life. And make no mistake I am not by any means taking up for Kirk at all. I feel that he was a deeply wounded, fearful ignorant man who thought he knew everything about life when he knew exactly nothing at all and that coupled with his arrogance is what ultimately took him off this earth. He was quoted as saying regarding the second amendment: I think it’s worth to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.

Our Priorities are ass backwards
Our priorities aren’t where they should be due to way too much being thrown at the wall to see what sticks thanks in part to the media spinning stories trying to make us believe that things aren’t as bad as they really are as well as the constant fear mongering by people like Kirk and the many other talking heads. I’m beyond upset at this country because instead of just worrying about how a murder in broad daylight can occur, and flying the American flag at half mast for this one person, we should’ve been trying to find out why the powers that should not be are so hell bent on making school shootings and American past time?

It’s All Connected
And I know you’re wondering why did I choose the photos that I chose for my article well crazy as it sounds, it’s all connected. loss is a loss period and whether it happened to an innocent child in a school/church, a lawyer in a high rise or a person who gets shot while at a rally or while at a supermarket. A loss through violence is terrible, cold and soulless. But so is preaching hatred in the name of God or ones political beliefs. The point I’m making is considering the turmoil we’ve been through as a country, it’s unsettling coming to the realization that the mindset and heartlessness of those terrorists responsible for that day shares the same fragmented mindset who just lost his very own life from preaching all of his hateful and demeaning words to anyone who would listen. And yes the evil that took those towers down 24 years ago is the same kind of evil that thought his whiteness would protect him from the gun violence he advocated for, believing that only black and brown people were responsible for it.
Never Forget
You know every year on this day I’ll watch documentaries about 911 and listen to all of the stories, from people’s first hand experiences to see if there were any I may have missed and I do it not to re-traumatize myself but to constantly remind myself of just how apathetic and power hungry some people can really be on this planet. And even though I never knew any of the fallen personally, it still marked my soul which won’t allow me to ever take life for granted or how fragile our humanity has become. And whether it was 24 years ago or 24 minutes ago, my thoughts and prayers will forever go out to those who lost their lives on that day as I give condolences to everyone who lost a loved one due to violence.
Karma
I know it’s easier to say that what happened to Kirk as his own undoing because it’s true what they say that life and death are within the power of the tongue and I do firmly believe in karma, what goes around does in fact come around both for good and bad. Some say that maybe Kirk’s death was nothing more than a huge media distraction given the fact that a certain old birthday card given to Jeffrey Epstein and signed by Trump himself has resurfaced and Kirk unbeknownst to him was used as the soldier who needed to fall on his sword by helping his beloved President by diverting everyone’s attention. Or maybe it was Kirk’s ugly ways that caused the universe to punch the clock on his life. Who knows for sure? Maybe two things can be true.

In Closing
I know that some people have decided to take the route of cheering out loud for Kirk’s death saying that he got what he deserved and I fully respect that, I just hope that you respect my right not to. Yes Kirk was a terrible person that used the platform he was given to preach hatred and disharmony against many different communities. He had absolutely no empathy, sympathy or compassion for those he raged against. And my thing is what’s done is done, he along with many others are being handled quickly and a lot of those who think alongside Kirk will go out in similar ways because it never pays to do evil against those that are just trying to live their lives and pursue their happiness same as his white privilege allowed him to.
I’m in the process of trying not to backslide into being the person I use to be. And one of the ways is to actively try not to laugh at someone else’s demise. Because in my mind, that same shit could easily happen to me or anyone of us for that matter. So even though I know fully that Kirk did bring all of this on himself, I’m going to instead give a smirk knowing that the earth is a little lighter from the hatred it suffers from.
