DCVax uses a form of personalized molecular profiling to target a patient's unique tumor by incorporating proteins and biomarkers from their specific brain tumor tissue into the vaccine, training the immune system to recognize and attack that tumor. The therapy is personalized to each patient because there is substantial variation in the molecular characteristics and biomarkers of tumors, even among patients with the "same" type of cancer, like glioblastoma.
