LOL You're lucky he didn't kill you. The only time I've seen Hydrochloric Acid used was as a pretty powerful drain cleaner and even then you had to go easy so as not to melt the pipes.
I probably screwed around with it in my chemistry classes too, but that was awhile ago so much of that is a blur because we messed with so many toxic chemicals..
