No worries. Those gimmies are all good when you're playing with the crew but I always was attracted to the challenge. It was sort of a "fuck you" to the golf course.
That's another point... I never played against people, I was taught by others who told me to play against the track (course).
If you get too involved in your competition then you lose sight of what the main goal is. It's to score your best on the layout that the course gives you. Challenging yourself only makes you better. You're never going to hit perfect shots all day but the greatest golfers are able to make a shit sandwich into a filet mignon in one stroke.
Even if you pick up that 3 footer, it might mean something to the people around you but it's always better to look that tiger in the eye and sink it, because you can. It gives you confidence and a swagger that you might not have known before you tried it.
Again that all comes with practice and discipline. Your shot routine is important even though you never thought about that before. Same thing, every time and I'm glad it's working out for you.
