After getting out of the Army in 75 Became a road partner of a big rig furniture moving company that had an air force moving contract. Our trips would sometimes last two weeks depending on the dispatcher and we normally traveled to or through 10-15 states. One trip we went through 17 and we smoked and drank all our profits along the way. Ended up in Jail in Biloxi MS. when the belt to the brakes came off and I tried to run it out on the beach. Shared a cell with a guy named Dave who was from New Orleans and his girl had OD on some bad acid in the hotel room. But thats a different story. Somewhere in Indiana we ran out of blow and picked up a junkie who claimed to know some people. Ended up in a strip joint at 1pm in the afternoon while the girls danced to "You Are My Shining Star" and my riding partner getting threatened in the bathroom. Long story short fell asleep at the wheel and my partner was passed out on his side of the cab when somewhere way back in my head I heard a horn honking! When I opened my eyes my reflexes took over and almost jack knifed the rig. Guy honking the horn pulled over behind us and my friend picked himself up off the floor. Realized later in my journey who my shining star really was. God is good! Takes a little luck to make it this far in life and lets see if there's more in store here?
