Except that we are not the passengers but are simply interested sightseers waiting to see that the aircraft takes off successfully to the skies. Once safely aloft and the seat belt sign has been extinguished, the passengers, who had been sitting incommunicado in the plane on the runway whilst waiting for ATC et al to clear the plane for take-off, can then switch on their mobile phones and inform their members in the outside world that they are now flying.

Bon Voyage to all (except the doomsayers who will need more than good wishes)

True,  but the final clearance is in the hands of ATC (Air Traffic Control, in this case the regulators), and that process involves multiple unseen checks. In complex flights like this, the pilot’s priority is to complete every checklist without distraction. Frequent updates mid-check can lead to confusion if the timing or sequence changes. The most professional approach is to finish the work, receive the all-clear from ATC, and then make one clear announcement everyone can understand: “We are taking off.” Until then, silence isn’t inactivity, it’s focus on the steps that matter most for a safe, successful flight.
