Either the Marlins are very very good or the Yankees are very very bad. I suspect the latter.

I read Chisholm's account of the play in question and it works for me. This was not a blunder in the "I forgot how many outs there were" or the "I fogot to slide category."Jazz was in the moment just fine and it was a close play at first on the double up. Yanks aren't really, really bad. And I wouldn't call the Marlins really good. They are really hot at the moment though, and have the potential to even sneak into a WC spot if they continue this level of play. If there's fault here, it's with Boone IMO. If you haul a player down the dugout steps on national TV, , you better be 100% sure of the play. If Boone was so cocksure of himself, why scream at the first base coach when you're done embarrassing yourself with Jazz? A few wins fixes everything, which is why Yanks fans better hope Judge returns soon and stays healthy.

Yeah that was a terrible baserunning play, at least wells owned his mistake much better after the game, but as you said the key word is sloppy. And more importantly the manager is constantly making excuses and that is my main problem with Boone. I feel Yankee fans get too upset with him thanks to some of the deficiencies of the lineup, or lineup construction, the real problem with boone is he is an excuse man, there is always an excuse. Thankfully that is one of the thing mendy does when somebody does something dumb we don't hear excuses, I mean you can't destroy player like you did 30-40-50 years ago if you were the manager but you can absolutely at the very least say so and so made a mistake and he has to better and he will be better. or something like that at the very least.
