It looks like traders will soon have another variable to consider --> Trump rigging the official economic data / numbers to make them look rosier. The numbers were already being massaged by the Fed (most likely), but with the President's team now doing it, we can assume the 'adjustments' will always be toward the rosy side. This makes it more dicey betting against the stock market.
And if the President's team will be rigging the economic numbers, Trump will likely also avail himself of the PPT to keep the stock market buoyant. Trump went to the extreme of firing the BLS commissioner to ensure favorable data, so why wouldn't he also use the PPT to full advantage?
This is one slippery slope for sure, and getting more slippery by the day.
